Re: Posting photos

All the links on every site to Photobucket photos are disabled, unless you pay them $400. to reactivate the links.

A lot of sites have gone to software that allows you to post a photo directly from your hard drive. (not this one though)

Re: Bottom Rebuild (prev. 'At a cross road')

Good to see you getting back on it Peter. I'm not familiar enough with boat repair, but I'd think maybe scarfing in some short new pieces? Cutting the angles on the planks that are still screwed on might prove a tad difficult though. When you're done with that one, I have another project for you. Tw...

Re: 1963 17' Thompson Garage Find

That's encouraging. My '60 Sea Coaster leaks like a sieve and I just can't get into a whole disassembly/flipping project with it.

Re: 1963 17' Thompson Garage Find

General question for anyone reading this thread: Is it possible to apply a 5200 bottom with the boat upright? Maybe thin coats so it doesn't run and hang down like stalagtites?

Thanks Andreas. That's just the kind of boat I'm looking for. Sorry, but I don't do social media sites.

Re: Bottom Rebuild (prev. 'At a cross road')

Peter,
Your best bet is to take it to a shop that specializes in straightening car frames. They will know the best way to treat it.

Re: another Off-Shore Cabin Cruiser appears

Yep, that's what happens when you build a huge building on your property. You just HAVE to fill it up. Can't let all that space go to waste after it's been paid for......

10-4 regarding Peter's work. I think he spent more time building bucks and jigs than actually working on the boat! But it all paid off. :D

That Gator trailer is almost a dead ringer for the one under my '60 Peshtigo Thompson.

'60 Sea Coaster restoration work needed

Is there anyone near central Illinois who would like to undertake some restoration/repair work on my '60 Sea Coaster? I've had it on the water once and it leaks badly. It's all original, not hooked but I suspect the keel needs to be resealed, maybe the transom as well? The boat is currently in stora...

Re: Bottom Rebuild (prev. 'At a cross road')

Peter, I am by no means a boat builder and even still have trouble with some of the terminology, BUT just looking at it from a practical viewpoint, since the hook is established in all the wood, (inside to outside) it would be very difficult to straighten all of it out because there is a lot more st...
