If I am not mistaken Chris Craft had 3M design 5200 for there use in boats way back when. Different types of construction require different methods of installation and repair . 5200 has its place ! It will cure stronger and faster if you put water on it. Use 5200 only on things that you do not want ...

Twist removal

I have removed the decks from the boat , and now notice a twist to the stbd side . The stbd is about an inch or less than the port rail . I thought that if i evened it out while installing the new deck that it would straighten out . Doing this worked somewhat but there is still a 1/8 to 1/4 differen...

45 HP Royal Scott / McCulloch

Have any of you all run a 45 HP on your 16-17 ft Thompson. I am debating one for mine after deciding that the 110 and 115 6cyl Mercs were just to much and way overkill for what I am looking for. I saw the post about the 40 HP in the Cruisers vs the 70/5? Anything to look out for with the McCulloch?

Original or redo?

The 1968 Thomboy that I have appears to be all original minus engine. The hull paint is in great condition looks original with a few cracked spots at the bungs where the paint has come off. I'd say 99 % of all the paint is there. Should I simply spot repair and keep the original paint or should I sa...

Merc 1100 /Merc 1150 on a 68 Thomboy ??

I have a 1967 Merc 110HP as well as a 72 Merc 115HP. I understand that the boat is rated for a 90HP. From what I know the 90 HP Merc and the 110HP/115HP were the same block/ same weight. I could just prop it so that it doesnt have a crazy top end !? Thoughts and opinions wanted .

As the prop turns! According to the state of West Virginia the boat is a 1968 and had no HIN #? On July 3 1968 WV issued the hull number as WV3072C. The trailer is a 1974 SHL (abbrv.) serial # as 43232. It appears that Florida has isssued the trailer FL#s! that will make for a hell of a ride! You st...

However I cannot see anyother numbers anywhere back oon the transome on the inside or behind the seats/ fuel tank area? There is written on the windshield R500...

What is it?

I just purchased a Thompson Thom Boy which from bow to stern measures 16ft 9 inches. The interior is blue and white with back to back seats at the helm and passenger , as well as to smaller single seats to either side of the transome area. The bow area is covered in the blue and whit basketweave mat...
