floors and deck nails
hello! after nine years (four off to restore a vw bus), I've just temporarily put the deck - prime sapele ribbon - on my '57 sea coaster deluxe model 477. I don't think i'll have the time to seal, attach, and stain the deck before winter. so, I thought I'd work on the floors and seats. were floors p...

Re: Petitt mist green paint
hello. like you it has been some time since I've visited this site. I found the cd purchased years ago and looked up the 1957 colors.. yes indeed mist green was the color. you are so fortunate in that my sea coaster's original color was misty rose - read PINK! but I reluctantly went with the color. ...

Re: 1958 Cruisers Seafarer
just an aside, buck. this coming july I will have begun my seventh year restoring a 1957 sea coaster deluxe (model 477). the most important thing I've learned is to take lots of pictures - LOTS! no matter how insignificant you may feel the picture is to you. also, keep a journal. at the end of a ses...

Re: 1963 17' Thompson Garage Find
sorry, I won't be able to help you. I have a 1957 Thompson sea coaster deluxe (model 477). I'm sure you'll eventually find what you're looking for here. this site is very helpful - once everyone returns for the summer from florida, Arizona, etc. :) having said that, there is another site I use quite...

Re: 1963 17' Thompson Garage Find
hello. maybe it's too late, BUT in the book REPAIRS by walter j. simmons he writes about what you have tried to do. I know because I did the same thing (sans the quick dry 5200). his method allows the strakes to remain very sharp - very crisp. no one would ever know that you had applied the caulk - ...

does anyone know how thompsons were painted at the factory - if in fact they were painted there? I'm just finishing the primer coats, and if the weather holds out I may get to the finish coats. on the primer coats, I used the roll and tip method. but i'm curious as to whether they used a spray booth...

getting ready to prime hull on my boat. what do you recommend to fill the gap between the garboards from the end of the outer keel to the transom? I planned on using famo wood filler BUT thought I'd better check. thanks for any suggestions...

Re: Sea coaster transom
just my two cents - the screws from the inner transom braces to the transom on my sea coaster were not countersunk making for easy removal. I'm 99.9% sure that is the way they came from the factory as the braces were original to the boat. also, on my boat the edge of the transom did not have an adhe...

keel attachment
after six years, it is time to attach the keel and paint the hull. looking for the best method since I don't want to clog the limber hole. possibly run a bead of compound down both sides of the garboards? coat the keel then attach it to the garboards? other? any suggestions are much appreciated. as ...
