Andreas thanks for getting back to me. I thought about it all night and decided it wasn't a chance I was willing to take. I pulled the couple off I had fastened and was glad I did, they seemed to be putting a lot of stress on the cross members. I will steam bend all of them. I just got done making m...

ferrous metal fasteners in a 1930 sThompson TVT
Have any of you ever seen a boat that was built with ferrous metal fasteners?? I am restoring a 1932 Thompson TVT and except for the exposed screws that are visible on the finish product, everything else is pretty much steel or iron. This includes the pieces that are nailed. The first couple I came ...

staining the deck boards while I have them off??
I am restoring a 1932 Thompson TVT. I had to remove the deck boards to make some repairs. Seeing as how the deck is 1/4" mahogany tounge a groove, I was thinking maybe I would stain the boards while I had them off. They are fastened with exposed brass screws, so this way I wouldn't be trying to...

Can I use CPES on my outside hull??
Can I use CPES on the outside of the hull of my boat and will it help stop leaks?? I'm restoring a TVT and I’m just concerned about stripping down the hull, then spending all the time not to mention expense to paint it and finish only to find out it leaks when I launch it. I have never used CPES and...
