1968 100hp Johnson V4TL-14B - Problem keeping it running
I have a 1968 100hp Johnson on my 1967 21ft Thompson Offshore Camper. I have been working on this outboard for the past year and cannot seem to get her to run right. She has a sensor trigger. I put in a new wiring harness, pulse pack, stator, coil and rectifier. I get spark and she starts right up. ...

Andreas - Thanks for the wood recommendation! Next big project! Brian - I did get my 68' running, but had to rig my own home built Power pack. I wanted to run her to see if it was worth investing in a new Pulse pack ($300 UGGG) Also the electronic shifting is prone to failure. It has two wires going...

Tom, The boat originally came with Canvas Decks. I decided to not replace the canvas, but to repair the wood deck below. I did this so I could install a permanent mahogany rub rail. Since I was painting the deck I actually used auto Bondo to fill the seams and cracks. I also used a non skid additive...

I can get the Serial Number, but could never find the Hull ID#. Looked all over the transom and could not find?? Do you think since this was close to the last year they were making them, they might not have stamped it? Or is this a sign that the transom might have been rebuilt before? Did not look t...

Restoration Pictures for 1967 Thompson Offshore Camper
Thought I would post some shots of my restoration of a 1967 Thompson Offshore Camper. She is a 21ft boat with a 1968 100hp Johnson. This is my first wood boat restoration. I am a complete novice, so not restored to complete original condition. This works for me for now. I am sure over the next few y...

Flush attachement for 1968 100hp Johnson (V4TL-14-B)
Restoring the original 1968 100hp Johnson (V4TL-14-B) on my 1967 Thompson Offshore Camper. Cannot find what the Flush out attachement looks like for this OB. Looked through this site and the web, with no luck. Does anyone have a picture or can describe what it looks like? It is mentioned throughout ...

Need Pictures of 1967 21ft. Offshore Sea Camper
I am close to finishing the restoration of my 67' Thompson Offshore Camper. Looking for any pictures of restored or original 67' Offshore camper. I guess any late 60's Offshore would work. Looking for ideas on deck finish, as well as, hardware placement. Most was off the boat when I got it. Thanks e...

Thanks Andreas! Figured as much. Trying to figure out how to drop the keel cap to fix underneath. Cannot flip a boat that size and really do not have a location to do that. Any suggestions on how to support the hull so I can remove the keel cap? Have read on the site that the Ribs cannot support the...

Swelling before Launch
I have a 1967 21' Thompson Offshore Camper. My Thompson is Plywood Lapstrake / Rib construction. I filled the inside (Just up to floor board) with water to start swelling before I launched her. The boat leaked a good amount at the keel. More than swelling could probably stop. Not in a place to resto...
