Thanks for the info. This is the route I will go and will hopefully get some finish on the transom to prevent premature cracking due to humidity, etc.. Thanks for the advise.

I am planning on cutting off my transfom and need just a quick refresher.
What adhesive should be used?
What type of screws and length?
What type of nails if any?
Transom hole sleeve (or two)?
Replacement lag screws?
Anything else?
And where is a good source to buy these items?

Do Mahogany woods differ
I can purchase either African Mahogany or Honduras Mahogany from the lumber yard that I use. African is much cheaper. On this forum, I read that Phillipean Mahogany should be used. Is it because it resists rot better that African or Honduras? I would like to use what they stock. Is there a differenc...
