Spent some time yesterday and got the twins on the bot and all hooked up.
As always "please pardon the dust as we are under construction"

Re: Thompson Hull Logo location
Thanks Andreas.
I know that this one was on the first painted plank and it was parallel to the planks as I believe at the time I held it up to the holes for a look see.
When I go back out to the shop I will put my eyes on and see if I can spot any shadows of the original mounting holes.

Thompson Hull Logo location
-18401103210D41A41E.png Ok gang. Getting ready to put my Thompson script logo back on the 1955 Off Shore. Problem is when I got the boat they weren't on the hull but on the garage floor under the boat. (lucky find for me). And in my zealessness I filled in the original holes. I have looked at many ...

Re: More Javelin Pics
One last comment about the color match Jall.
The other thing I did was to use the gold background of the emblem as a guide as well.
You can see in the one pic that it is a fairly close match.

IMG_0092.JPG IMG_0091.JPG IMG_0090.JPG Looking Good! May I ask how you stripped the old paint and how you got a color to match? Thanks Went over them with a DA(Air powered dual action sander). Took about 10 minutes per hood. Shot them with self etching primer for good adhesion to the aluminum. Used...

Re: Treating Chrome for storage
I have been envolved with the purchase of many old cars and boats and have yet to see one stored with anything covering the chrome. Such as wax or oil or grease. I am not sure that it would mke a difference. As Phil said best bet is to just use a good chrome polish. I use simichrome paste polish. A ...

Painting the twins.
Thought that I would post some pics. Just finished doing the second color on the twins. Some of you may remember that my Off Shore came with twin 35 Johnson Seahorse's. Turns out that one was actually a Javelin with a Seahorse hood and paint so I decided to redo them both like Javelin's. Will paint ...

Re: Gas Tank location.
Still set up for the 2 line system and I plan on keeping that as I have 4 good tanks and have rebuilt the connecters
and everything works as it should.
No back seat in this Off Shore so I will just tuck them in under the splash well.
See pic.

Re: Gas Tank location.
Bill and Andreas. Thanks for the replys. Since my Off Shore has no back seat there is a good size area of space under the motor well. Plus my flooring goes almost all the way back to the transom so there is a solid platform for the tanks. I have 4 of the OMC tanks that work for these motors so I thn...

Re: Installing Silicon Bronze Screws
I didn't use anything on the screws when I re-ribbed my boat. Now as far as the splash rail goes I used some boat life in the screw holes. I thought about back buttering the entire rail but didn't want to deal with the mess of the excess squirting out upon tightening. As I recall the screw on the th...
