Fellas... I scraped through layers of paint on the floorboards, after removing plastic grassy carpet from my 1960 Seacoaster.... I concluded that it was a pale green mist type color. I have seen other Thompson's that looked like this, so I figured it was original. I had a local paint company match i...

I had two places on my Seacoaster that I glued with Smith's All Wood Glue (two part).... I suspect that you could use Smith's Laminating and Layup epoxy, but the wood glue dried nicely overnight. One spot was on or near where the throttle/gearshift controls were mounted. The layer of the strake most...

Thanks Folks... I appreciate the comments... I think I will need to experiment a little the next time I am out... I usually have two people @ about 310 lbs in the front seat, and 10-15 gals of fuel in the rear. I don't want to switch, but I think I would rather that the boat had a smaller, lighter m...

What is your engine setting for a 16' boat with 75 OMC
Folks... I am interested in how your motor is trimmed for a similar sized boat and motor... I have a 15' 10" 1960 Seacoaster... with a 75HP 1961 Johnson.... There are four holes on the bracket that mounts to my transom. I currently have the peg/rod through the second hole from the last... that ...

Gary... I agree with Phil, that you should determine, or at least try to determine where the water is infiltrating... I did this on my Seacoaster, and did use a combination of caulk and epoxy to eliminate the symptom. I am not sure if your transom is painted or varnished. In my case, I was getting a...

Dan.. I was planning to do the same thing... for the same reasons... I couldn't stand to put a bracket on my nice stained/varnished transom.... but I wanted some sort of backup... But I have given up so far... My 75 Johnson motorhead is so huge, there is no room for a trolling motor.... I was going ...

That is a good point.. I have a pin to pull on my Tee Nee trailer, but it has a chain also... seems to me that it only tilts several inches.... not the 10 or 15 that I was expecting... Since I float it off the trailer, I don't bother with the tilting, but it seems to me that it should have more rang...

I am not sure how soon you will be painting the hull, but just in case you were going to do it soon, I would suggest a couple of things. 1) Make sure you know what, if any wood will need to be replaced/addressed on the inside, before doing too much on the outside. 2) When you do get to the hull, I s...

You can also try isopropyl alcohol.. I know that doesn't eat into the varnish.... I use a water dampened cloth, with some alcohol also to go over the varnished areas on my boat. It cleans off bedding compund w/o harming the finish. Seems to me that Min Spirits might take the gloss off.... but I am n...

Wanted - Hinges
Does anyone have original type hinges for a fold down rear seat?. I will be making a slat back fold down seat for my 1960 Seacoaster, and would like to get some hinges as close to original as possible. The ones I see now in catelogs, and even the 'cuddy' hinges that you can buy, just don't look the ...
