No, I need to take a picture and post it. The keelson looks like a upside down "T". The horizonal part of the inverted "T" lays flat on top of the garboard planks with the ribs terminating at each side. The vertical part of the "T" runs from the transom to about the das...

55 Offshore keelson

I have searched all of the postings over keelsons and what is in my boat does not seem to be the same as others. My keelson is made up of one piece approximately 2X4 laying flat from the transom to the stem. Then there is a vertical piece about 2X5 running from the transom to about 8 inches from the...

Marine plywood in Tennessee

Does anyone know of a source for 3/8 maine plywood in Tennessee? I have found 3/4 but nobody has 3/8. I am repairing my garboard planks. If I can't find marine plywood what do you think of using 3/8 MDO.

Hardware

What are the carriage bolts, machine screws, wood screws and the lag bolts made out of on a 55 Thompson? Is it silicon bronze or brass?

I found the number 51237 penciled in in a few locations under my floor boards. Can this be my serial number?

Bilge paint

What can I use for bilge paint? Can I use oil based porch and deck paint? Also since it is a trailered boat what can I paint the hull with after treating with CPES and Interlux 2000? I read were an individual painted his with white tractor paint with hardener.

I was wondering if it is an Off Shore. It seems bigger than the other Thompsons I have seen. I had to take my trailer tires off and drop the tongue down and slide it into the garage on the drums to clear my 6' 7" door. Even with this the windshield just cleared.

1955 Thompson

I have a 1955 Thompson (that's what it is registered as). It came from Wisconsin and I bought it in Tennessee. The individual I bought it from wife's family owned the boat for years in Wisconsin. I was told that the transom was replaced years ago and the boat was shorten from 18 ft to 16 ft. and the...
