Bilge paint

Post by larryejoh »

What can I use for bilge paint? Can I use oil based porch and deck paint? Also since it is a trailered boat what can I paint the hull with after treating with CPES and Interlux 2000? I read were an individual painted his with white tractor paint with hardener.

Most of these boats had varnish in the bilge, not paint.

I certainly would not use porch and deck paint on a boat. If you are going to paint it, use a bilge paint. Interlux makes one called BilgeKote. I am sure other marine paint firms make bilge paint. Make sure all the old varnish is removed prior to applying paint.

I would also not recommend use of tractor paint on a boat. Use marine paint.
