my "new" Chris-Craft glassic

Post by LancerBoy »

I obtained my second classic fiberglass boat yesterday. She''s a 1966 Chris-Craft Corsair 17'-6" Sport V outboard runabout. She'll join my fleet which includes a 1965 Thompson 15' G1500 fiberglass outboard.

You can see details about this model on page 639 of Jerry Conrad's book "Chris-Craft: The Essential Guide."

This Corsair boat was made by Thompson Boat Company of New York, Inc. at Cortland, NY - a wholly owned subsidiary of Chris-Craft.

The Chris-Craft is in pretty good shape - a bit dirty - but usable.

When I get my film developed I'll post pictures (yes, I still use a film camera).

Andreas,

Looks like a solid boat and I am eager to see it completed and on the water.

I hope to launch her later today and give her a whirl!

Spent several hours vacuuming the leaves and junk out of the boat yesterday. People were using this thing a month ago with all that junk in it. I can't believe it!

Great. It just looked like it needs some clean-up on the hull paint. All the structural components are okay?

What a great and historic find.

Let us know how it goes with the re-launching.

Congratulations Andreas! I thought you said you didn't have room for another boat.... :?:
The built-in bow light is very cool. Let us know how it runs.... :P

PS: Could you please tell me the make of the amp gauge with the "football" on the face?

Sorry, no name or logo on the amp meter. There are some number on the back of it.

Here she is on Lake Minnetonka, MN on Friday 14 August.

Yesterday I removed the seats, the vinyl covered interior side panels and got the floor ready for paint. I think I'll replace the wood grain vinyl covered side panels with stained and varnished meranti plywood. I'll match the colour as closely as possible.

Boating with friends on chilly Lake Minnetonka, MN on 04 Oct 2009. No snow that day!

The blue bomb is a 1966 Chris-Craft by Thompson 17'-6" Corsair Sport V with 1966 Evinrude 100 HP.
