Finally i'm ready to put my 1961 sea lancer in the water, after 2.5 years of working on it almost every day. I have trying to register it. Long story short in a house fire the Il. title got destryed. The boat has been out of the water for 15 years. I have a bill of sale from the owner. I now live in Ga. the DNR is asking for the original manufactures statement of origin. Did A boat this old ever have one?

No, highly doubtful.

Slowly, calmly and very pleasantly explain to the regsitration folks that this is an old boat - pre US Coast Guard universal serial number system. That boats built in 1961 did not have a statement of origin like today's boats.

Try to find a supervisor with whom to chat.
