new rig for me: 63 OffShore stern drive

Post by LancerBoy »

Obtained a new rig last week. A 1963 Thompson Bros. Boat Mfg. Co. (Peshtigo) 20'-4" Off-Shore Deluxe stern drive. She's a big rig! Need a ladder to get in and out of the boat! Triple axle Alloy trailer. Chrysler inboard engine with Eaton Powernaut outdrive.

Plenty of rot in the wood, hole in the hull compliments of a fork lift, and who knows if the engine is stuck or not.

I have zero knowledge of stern stern drives, so this will be a learning experience!

See the bell at the center of the windshield? Clanged all the way from southern Minnesota to the Twin Cities on the drive. Kinda funny!

Is it a "slant 6"?
Had one of those in an old fiberglass Crusader. Practicly bulletproof.
I think they started out at around 130-140 HP range, but not sure.
It was a long time ago.
