I might have found a rare Thompson in my area. An old fellow without a computer but has an old Thompson. After talking to him, I think it is a 1965 V1850 Sea Lancer Deluxe with a Merc 110 IO. I love my 58 Sea Lancer but I feel this might be a great hull(full V) I have two questions. What do you think about the old Merc IO's and this hull compared to a standard hull?

I have no personal expereince with either the old MerCruiser drive nor the full V-hull. I have only seen one full V-hull Thompson in person (about a 1967 20 foot I/O). The one I saw was sinking on Lake Minnetonka a few summers ago. The boards at the chine serpated due to unattended rot and opened up the seam.
I have never riden in one or driven one.
I would assume that the full V-hull would be better riding especially on big open waters such as the Great Lakes.
