I'm in Peshtigo

It's chilly in Peshtigo, WI this morning, Temperature about 18 F. A clear blue sky tho.

I am sitting in an office about 300 feet from the old Thompson Boat factory. I am working here full time on a long term, temporary basis. I see the old boat works many, many times each day and always think about the men and women making the boats that I now have in my collection. Kind of fun to contemplate all the saws and planers buzzing away and paint and varnish being sprayed on the great woody boats once made at this site.

Andreas,
Walk around the property on your lunch break and see if you can find a handful of saw dust to save in a jar. A neat piece of history to preserve.

haha, I doubt there is any left. Thompson Boat moved out of the facility in 1971. Several other firms were in the plant for many years. It has not been utilized in about 5 years. A number of buildings were torn down about two years ago. Some of the solid timber roof purlins from that building destruction are stacked in a pile. Maybe I can go whittle off a chunk from one of 'em!
