The boat is a 1961 Cruisers Inc. 202. It was my first wood boat project thatI did in summer of 2000. The motor is a 1960 75 hp.(ran great)
The boat was apart and stripped of varnish. So it was up to me to get it all back together. Boy did I work fast and quick on that one! Maybe 2 months working 4-6 hours a day...... It had buddy back seats and a nice splash well set up. In July of 2002 a found a 1964 Cruisers Adventurer 17 ft. that is a little more stable of boat. So the 61 202 had to go!

The first time out with the 61 I saved 2 fishermen from drowning. There
little fiberglass boat sank before my eyes! Turned out to be crack in transom from the drive from Chicago. AS I pulled him over the gunnel he was asking to go back to his ship to get his cell phone. No life jacket on!!.

Cheers
Ron P.

Do you have a photo of the splash well? Would like to have one for my file. Here a link to a picture of my Cruisers 202 and my complete collection of 1960 Evinrudes at the Houston Boat Show in 2005. http://aerialimaging.net/johnpics42

ok guys I finally got things repaired here. New mahogany transom boards. New spliced in keelson. Used some West System epoxy to repair the garboard.(Nails and some rot damage.) I coated everything in CPES. Then used Boatlife Life-calk with new screws. Followed everyones advise to replace with new wood. Varnishing transom and ribs now!

Ron,

I looked through your photo albums and found the '66 fiberglass Thompson boat. I had seen those pictures on eBay before. Is that your boat, did you win the bididng on it?

I think I just answered my own question - I see my boat in one of your albums.

That's MY boat - or at least it will be later this week! It is a 1965 Thompson G1500. Only made in the 1965 model year. They were actually built at Crownline Boats under contract with Thompson.

Andreas,

I was following the bidding on that boat. You got a steal. I think I bid early, hoping no one else was interested.

I found a good match for the vinyl for my boat. It is from www.greatlakesskipper.com Should be here next week.

If anyone is interested in some project boats,I know of 3 in the Appleton,Wisconsin area that need good homes.
1959 Cruisers 16ft,1963 Thompson Sea Lancer,and a 1953 16ft Sea Skiff.
I've told the owners to get a listing on this site so that should be coming up.You can E mail a private message here if you need more info. Just looking to save some more boats.
