1960 75 HP Johnson

Post by JoeCB »

If someone is looking for a classic outboard for their classic Thompson, Just saw what appears to be a really nice motor posted (2/23/07) on the www.aomci.org "classified ads". The motor comes with it's controls as well as an extra set AND two spare parts motors to boot. The 1960 75hp is a particularly nice motor as it's the last big OMC motors to have a conventional mechanical gear shift. If this one is the upscale model it will also have an integral alternator. I know , I have the Evinrude version of this motor on my Sea Lancer.
The bad news is that the poor guy is being forced to change motors because of "lake restrictions"... this in Maine. Sounds like left coast thinking is moving east. Recall Miles' predictions !

Thanks for the info. I just started a project boat and it came with a complete 75 Johnson on it. Now I'm seeking others.
We aren't stupid...just new to boating.
