Woody,

Find the model number and serial number on the motor and go to the following website: www.kencook.com
This is the firm that printed the owners manuals and shop manuals for Evinrude & Johnson outboards. You can cross refference the serial number and model number to a year and if you want to you can order owners and shop manuals from them for a reasonable fee. It is the best reference for these motors.
As to the value you can go to www.nadaguides.com and pock around on their site to find average value of the motor. The real value is what the purchaser will pay for the shape and condition it is in.

Good Luck!

Woody,

I have a 1967 60 hp Evinrude Sportfour. It is on a boat I just purchased and is not in running condition. I'll probably be working on the boat long before the motor, but I'd be interested in whatever you learn.
