Thompson 288 Flybridge Twin 230's need info

Post by txfinance »

Just purchased a 1986 Thompson 288 Flybridge with twin 230's. We went about 15 miles offshore and back . We used approx. 73 gallons of fuel. This sound like alot of fuel. Is this normal or is there something we need to have done to the engines. They run great. Just curious. Help Please. thanks in advance.

If you think there are problems with the engines, bring em to a mnechanic for a tune up.

The engine maker and outdrive maker may be able to provide estimated fuel consumption tables. I am sure they would need to have the make, model and serial number of the items to assist

Depends on speed, 1/2 mpg ( 60 gals in 30 miles)is about right at 10/12 mph, at 20/25 mph should get about 2 mpg or 30 gals for 60 miles.

Record distance traveled on gps, to be sure of miles traveled.
