1959 Evinrude 50 HP

Post by LancerBoy »

Anyone know a good paint match for the lower unit and leg for a 1959 Evinrude Starflite 50 HP outboard?

Is there something I can pick up at NAPA or a DupliColor paint?

I know about the guy in Canada but I want to save that option as my last resort.

Hi AJR, I'm not sure of the particular color of your 59' but what I have done for the last couple of motors is use the custom mix capabilities of the autmotive paint stores. if you have a clean sample a couple of inches square they can scan it and custom mix as little as a pint. I have had real good luck with Dupont Centari, that's an acrylic enamel to which you add a hardner... really tough glossy finish impervious to gasoline. i get it at my local Finishmaster store ... think it was about $25 for a pint.

Boy Andrew, I would have to suggest to go with the guy in Canada... Just my two cents.
