2_Cycle Oil

I have a 1961 Johnson 75Hp.. V4AL.... I have been getting Johnson/Evinrude 2-Cycle oil... the Multi-Purpose blend... The store I have been getting that from, has replaced it with a "Mineral Blend" oil... (Still Johnson/Evinrude)

Does anyone know what that blend is and if it matters which one I use... (I use a 24:1 ratio)

I would rather stick to a Johnson/Evinrude label, instead of just using a 30 WT auto oil.

Thanks

I have been using synthetic 2 stoke for several years now and have had good results and a lack of fouled plugs since.

Running it that rich I think the only thing you need to worry about is using a good brand oil. The oils now days are much better than when these motors were built. I have a "63 Merc 85 hp and have been told by several mechanics at dealerships to run mine at 50/1 using good oil instead of the 24/1 it says in the book. Mine has been run at 50/1 for about 40 years and still runs great.
