I am looking to change the impeller on the merc 850 and was told by the previous owner that this was an easy job. Any tips out there? I am a handy type of giy who needs direction. Any specs on torquing the 4 bolts down???

I'm more of a Johnson/Evinrude guy, so I will not venture a guess on your Merc question. If you don't get an answer here I suggest going on the Antique Outboard web site ... aomci.org and post your question at "ask a member" ...those guys are experts on any and everything "outboard"

I have a tendency to over tighten bolts a bit so I though I would ask around. I will ask my question on the aomci.org site and see what happens.
