Metal Keel Guard

Post by degerb »

I'm in the midst of restoring a 20' Offshore camper. Does anyone have a source or know where I can get a bronze or brass strap for a keel and stem guard? I don't know if the old girl ever had one but I sure would like to install one before I flip her back over. I also need a source for a new bow eye as I had to cut the old one off in order to remove the stem cap.

The original stem band and keel band was probably aluminum. Try any metal extrusion company in your area. West Marine and places like that can get it. Taco is where West Marine gets it. In Minneapolis area I drive to Eagle Aluminum Mouldings and buy it off the shelf. It is 1/2-inch, half round and predrilled. Same goes for the gunwale rub rail aluminum moulding. They also sell it in stainless steel.
