White Streak in My Varnish

Post by vernonfarmer »

Applied the 7th coat of varnish the other night. Everything was fine when I turned out the lights to let 'er dry. Next day, I spot this white streak in the corner of the deck center board. Cannot see anything other than the white streak. No bug, no brush hair (using foam brush), nothing. Any ideas?

All good guesses. Can't be paint. Doubtful water. Boat's been in the same spot in a shed lined with plastic sheeting for all seven coats. Wax? Maybe from the tack cloth? Hmmmmm.

Just wondering if this is something someone else may have come across during varnishing. Like, "Hey, knothead, don't you know you get white streaks on the seventh coat if you don't wear Bermuda shorts during the application?"
