1952 12' cartopper transom

Post by cartopper »

Hi, I just got this boat and it leaks thruogh the bottom of the transom. I was thinking of taking off the outside trim and using some 4200 to reseal it. Anybody know how it was done at the factory? Also it has some soft spots in the cedar planks I was thinking of injecting some CPES into the areas to stop the decay, Will this do any thing to the canvas that is in real good shape? One more question, Where can I find paint for it? It's blue on the bottom and white on the top with red on the side rails. Thanks for all your help, Mike

If there is rot in the wood - replace it. Injecting CPES will NOT return any strength to the wood.

Paint can be obtained from any marine supply store. Use marine paint not household paint. I prefer paint from George Kirby Jr. Paint Co. of New Bedford, Mass. They only sell factory direct.
