According to the hull ID and information you provided earlier, you have a 1957 Sea Lancer, not 1958 Sea Coaster.

Yes, keelson can be removed with the boat on the trailer. It will be much simpler to do it with the boat off the trailer however.

The ribs are nailed and screwed to the keelson from the bottom. Then the garboard planks are nailed and screwed into the ribs, again, from the bottom.

To remove the keelson without removing the garboard planks will be difficult. You will have to cut all the nails and screws by prying a hack saw blade under the keelson and between the ribs and planking.

Smith's CPES is a good sealer. 3M5200 can be used to bed components permantly.

We replaced the keelsons on a 57 cruisers Inc see

http://www.thompsondockside.com/views/v ... 6&start=30

we found several screw heads from under neath then pryed rest loose.

We remade them beefier than the originals

you will want to re atach them through the bottom planks with sealer.
