Might be some information in the Glassic Library at www.fiberglassics.com

I have seen advertisements for them in old boating magazines.

OK, i have a strange piece of equipment that was stored in the bow of my 1962 american finn runabout, it is a galvanized tube about 4ft in lenght, inside there is a wooden pole with a handle on one end and a what appears to be a piece of leather wrapped around the wooden pole and shaped like a cone or funnel, anybody have any idea what this was used for? i'll try to post a picture.

59FLPAN,

Almost sounds like it could be an old manual bilge pump.

yes, that may be, so you draw the water up the tube, the leather cone seals the tube, there is a side opening 6in from the top where the water will drain overboard.

really cool vintage item
