finding mohagany for transom

Post by Darryl Siss »

Need to replace transom on Grady White. Looking for 1 inch by 12 inch phillipine mohagany but not having any luck with local lumber yards. I am located in Northern NJ. Any ideas?

Try Homestead Hardwoods of Vickery, OH near Sandusky. They have a website and more wood than is listed. Go to the marine plywood page, scroll down and they have mahogany hardwood and white oak. I have visited and bought a piece of white oak in preparation for doing some floor work on my SeaCoaster. Nice folks to deal with and it is literally a trip to an old-time lumberyard. Best wishes for your project, John
