Half-round bedding?

Post by desseks »

On my 1967 Sea Coaster (Peshtigo), the half-round trim on the sheerstrake seems to have some sort of plastic sheeting between it and the sheerstrake. Is there a particular type that was/should be used, or should I just use bedding compound instead?

Thanks.

Nothing needed.

The plastic was used in the factory to mask off the painted white areas while they sprayed the varnish on. Once varnish coats were done the plastic drop cloth sheeting was cut off and discarded. They put it on prior to nailing the half round trim onto the boat to help hold the plastic in place. That's why there are remnants still on the boat.
