varnish prep

I have sanded, bleached, sanded, stained, and sealed the interior hull of my '57 Thompson seacoaster. now, I have just sanded the cpes sealer with 220 grit. BUT, I can't get into the dimples around the nuts with sandpaper and a soft toothbrush isn't doing the job either. I've read where the varnish needs something with which to adhere. what is going to happen if I varnish over those nuts where the surface isn't flat? will the varnish fail? there is no way I'm going to remove the nuts and use famo to fill the dimples - unless that is the only remedy. please tell me it ain't so! thanks for any ideas/suggestions...

Andre,

I do not think that the small areas around the nuts on the interior of the hull will cause any problems with the varnish. That is a very small area compared to the flat surface surrounding these dimples.

It will be fine.

Like Phill says, don't worry about it. Varnish away and have fun!
