Thompson plant at peshtigo picture 1953

Post by LancerBoy »

Here is a picture of the Thompson Boat plant at Peshtigo in 1953. The main focus of the photo are the white oak glued laminated timber stems for US Navy minesweepers which were manufactured by Unit Structures, Inc. (www.sentinelstructures.com). Several members of the Thompson family were 50% owners of Unit Structures from 1934 to 1962. The building immediately behind the truck rigs with the arched roof iss the "woodworking room" room at Thompson Boat. It's still standing. The wooden sided three story building was constructed in 1912. It burnt to the ground in March 1955.
