Bedding Keel cap

Post by txcaptdan »

I am getting ready to remove and reset keel cap. What have you used in past to bed keel cap in. I know several friends that have used 5200 with good results -no leaks. But I am concerned about ever removing it in the future. What are some recomendations?

Seems like I used Boatlife, so it would easier to remove, since it is a wear item. I could have used 5200, can't remeber, but if did I would just cut and grind off the old, when the time came to replace it.

If you use 3M 5200 or similar adhesive, the wood will have to be destroyed the next time the outer keel needs to be removed.

Use a flexible marine caulk such as BoatLife's Life Caulk.
