Battery Connections

Post by Dan Wolf »

I have been adding things to my Sea Coaster that need battery connections, like trolling motor, bilge pump, running lights, and motor. There has to be a cleaner way of doing this without stacking up all these wires on the batt. terminals. What should I be doing...Dan

Look for wiring diagrams for boats on any number of websites.

Run one positive and one negative wire from the battery to a fuse block. From the fuse block, wire to the switches and to the devices.

Use proper size wire and high quality connectors. Use good quality switches like those from Cole Hersee. Use switches that are age appropriate for the year of the boat. Don't use cheap looking plastic ones - they just look like junk on a vintage boat. You can get good looking age appropriate pull switches etc... at West Marine.
