History:
Our Thompson Sea Coaster's name is Jo-Le. +/- 1960 At the time (1986)
I had 2 kids (boys) Joshua, 4 & Levi, 5, thus Jo-Le
The History; I bought the Thompson in 1986, restored & remodeled her
that year from April to July. Boat, trailer & 25 hp johnson: $1,200.00
Total remodel costs, (wood, fasteners, finish, pfd, anchor, lines,
gauges, motor work, etc) $1,800.00
I'm a cabinetmaker and the woodworking was easy and fun for me.
I added mahogany front and rear decks and the rear seat/storage set
up. The rear seat/storage set up afforded a cross beam support that
really stabilized the boat! We enjoy early morning and evening rides
in Jo-Le, on a calm, quiet lake! These rides with my son or wife,
along with the times (days-months) spent together working on Jo-Le
will be deeply felt & remembered forever. Remembering back on it is
great!
I just can't stop working on her...lol. I'm considering, remodeling
the bottom, transom, rear deck and seating to house a 4cyl I/O 120 hp.
It would look like a Old Thompson-Lapstrake, but 'taken to the limits'
